What the firm does

SF Business Solutions keeps the books, runs payroll, and prepares and files the tax returns for US small and mid-size businesses, and does back-office work for CPA and accounting firms as a partner. All of the work happens remotely, inside the client's own QuickBooks Online or Xero file, so the client keeps ownership of its data and its books.

Monthly bookkeeping clients get every bank and card account reconciled and a profit and loss statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, usually between the 5th and 15th of the following month, depending on when documents arrive.

Who it works for

Two kinds of clients. Small and mid-size US businesses, startups, individuals and larger companies hire SF Business Solutions for what they would usually hire a CPA for: keeping the books current, catching up a backlog, running payroll, tax planning, and preparing and filing their tax returns. CPA and accounting firms hire it to take on bookkeeping and tax preparation under the firm's own name, or to add a full-time accountant to their team.

What it costs

The firm publishes four starting prices. The final price depends on volume, the number of accounts and how far behind the books are.

• Monthly bookkeeping: from $250 a month
• Cleanup and catch-up: from $250
• CPA firms and other B2B partners: $12–$15 an hour
• A full-time accountant: from $1,500 a month

What it is not

SF Business Solutions is a bookkeeping and accounting firm, not a CPA firm. Its team includes one licensed CPA, and audits themselves are available through our professional CPA partner firms; the firm prepares the schedules and records an auditor needs.

Its Florida and Texas addresses are business addresses. The team is distributed across the US and internationally and works inside clients' own software, so where a client is in the US does not change the service.

The firm was founded by Syed Faiq Hussain, who leads the accounting work, and Samad Roomi, who leads business development.
