Bookkeeping for e-commerce sellers
SF Business Solutions does bookkeeping for Shopify and Amazon FBA sellers in QuickBooks Online or Xero: every payout broken into sales, fees, refunds and taxes, inventory and cost of goods sold tracked, and sales tax recorded by state.
Plans start at $250 a month.
Why e-commerce books go wrong
The deposit in your bank is not your revenue. A Shopify or Amazon payout is sales minus platform fees, refunds, advertising and sometimes taxes, all netted into one number. Booking the deposit as income understates revenue, hides your fees and makes your margins meaningless.
We record each payout from the platform's own reports, so gross sales, fees, refunds, shipping and sales tax each land in the right account and the deposit still ties to the bank.
Shopify and Amazon FBA
For Shopify we reconcile payouts, Shopify Payments fees and any other gateways such as PayPal or Stripe. For Amazon we work from settlement reports, which cover roughly two-week periods and include FBA fees, storage fees, reimbursements and advertising. Sellers on both get one set of books with each channel reported separately.
- Payouts split into sales, fees, refunds and taxes
- Settlement reports reconciled to bank deposits
- Channel-level profit: Shopify, Amazon and wholesale separately
Inventory and cost of goods sold
Your gross margin is only as good as your cost of goods sold. We track inventory purchases, including freight and duties where they belong in landed cost, and record cost of goods sold each month from your inventory counts or your inventory app's reports. Your books then show what you actually made on what you sold.
Sales tax in several states
Since 2018, states can require online sellers to collect sales tax once sales into the state pass a threshold. Marketplaces like Amazon collect and remit on marketplace sales in most states, but sales through your own store are your responsibility. We record sales tax collected by state, reconcile the liability accounts and produce the reports you need to file. If you also want help with the filings themselves, we can talk it through on a consult.

Who does bookkeeping for Shopify sellers?
We do. We reconcile Shopify payouts and gateway deposits, record fees and refunds separately, and track inventory and cost of goods sold.
Do you work with Amazon FBA sellers?
Yes. We book Amazon settlement reports so FBA fees, storage fees, reimbursements and advertising each show separately, and the deposit ties to the bank.
Can you handle inventory and COGS accounting for an online store?
Yes. We track inventory purchases and landed costs and record cost of goods sold each month, so your gross margin is real.
Can you handle multi-state sales tax for my online store?
We record sales tax by state, reconcile what you owe and prepare the reports for filing. Ask about filing help on a consult.
How much does bookkeeping cost for an e-commerce business?
Our monthly plans start at $250 a month. The price depends on your sales channels, transaction volume and whether you carry inventory.
